1. Introduction
AmuPit LLC ("AmuPit", "we", "us", "our") operates the AmuPit marketplace — the AmuPit website at https://amupit.com and the AmuPit Marketplace Android application (package name com.amupit.marketplace). AmuPit is an AI-powered marketplace for buying and selling new and used electronics across the United States, supporting both local pickup and nationwide shipping.
This Privacy Policy describes how AmuPit collects, uses, discloses, protects, retains, and deletes personal information when you visit the AmuPit website or use the AmuPit app. By using AmuPit, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the website or app.
2. Information Users Provide
When you use AmuPit, you may provide the following categories of information:
- Account information — your name and email address when you create an account, and your preferred interface language. Account credentials (such as your password) are handled securely by our authentication provider; AmuPit does not store your password in readable form.
- Phone number — required for seller verification and certain security features. Verification codes are delivered by SMS through our messaging provider.
- Profile information — your public display name, avatar, city/state, and bio, which you choose to add to your AmuPit profile.
- Product listings — titles, descriptions, prices, condition, category, brand/model details, photographs, and the approximate location you choose to show on a listing (a city or, if you opt in, a masked ZIP-area prefix such as 951XX — never your exact address).
- Shipping and delivery information — when you buy or sell a shipped item, the shipping address needed to fulfill the order. Exact addresses are stored privately and are never displayed publicly.
- Payment-related information — payments are processed by our payment provider. AmuPit does not store complete payment-card numbers.
- Seller and buyer activity — listings you create, offers you make or receive, orders, favorites, saved searches, and preferences.
- Messages between users — communications you send or receive through AmuPit's marketplace messaging.
- Customer support communications — when you contact AmuPit support or submit feedback or a report.
- Reviews and ratings — the star rating and review text you submit after a transaction. Reviews are displayed anonymously by role (for example, "Buyer") to protect reviewer identity.
- Verification information — if you participate in identity, seller, or device verification, you may submit information such as your verified phone number or a device identifier (such as an IMEI or serial number) for an electronics item you are selling. Full device identifiers are stored privately and are never shown publicly — at most, a masked last-4 is displayed.
3. Marketplace Activity
AmuPit records activity needed to operate the marketplace and keep it safe. This includes information associated with buying, selling, listings, and orders; local pickup coordination and pickup verification (including the safety codes and confirmation events used to verify a pickup); nationwide shipping and tracking uploads; buyer protection and dispute records; refunds; seller payouts; reviews and ratings; and records used for fraud prevention and marketplace enforcement.
4. Location Information
AmuPit uses location information to connect buyers and sellers in the right area, not to track you. Depending on the feature, this may include:
The city and state (or, if a seller opts in, a masked ZIP-area prefix) shown on a listing; a city or ZIP code you enter for search, delivery estimates, or "near me" discovery; and an approximate region derived from your IP address used for search relevance and safety.
AmuPit does not collect precise GPS location or background location. The Android app only uses device location when you explicitly choose a feature that needs it, and you can control or revoke that permission at any time in your device settings. Revoking location permission does not prevent you from using AmuPit — you can always enter a location manually.
5. Photos, Camera, and Media
When you create a listing, enhance a listing photo, or use photo-based search, you can upload photos from your device or take a new photo with your camera. Camera access is requested only when you choose to take a photo, and AmuPit does not access your entire photo library.
Product photographs are used to display your listings, to power AI listing assistance (such as identifying the product and suggesting titles, descriptions, and prices), to support marketplace verification features, and — where applicable — to help review listings for safety, fraud, and prohibited items. Photos you submit for photo search are stored privately.
6. Device and Technical Information
Like most websites and apps, AmuPit may automatically collect certain technical information, including:
- IP address and an approximate region derived from it
- Browser or device type, and (on the Android app) the app version
- Operating system and coarse device class (for example, desktop, mobile, or tablet)
- Anonymous session and visitor identifiers used for aggregate analytics
- Search queries and pages viewed, used to improve search and discovery
- Crash, error, and security-event information used to keep the service reliable and safe
8. How AmuPit Uses Information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the AmuPit marketplace, website, and app
- Create and maintain your account and authenticate you
- Process orders, facilitate payments through our payment provider, and coordinate seller payouts
- Facilitate shipping and local pickup, including pickup verification and delivery information
- Enable communication between buyers and sellers, and between users and AmuPit
- Provide customer support and respond to inquiries, reports, and requests
- Prevent fraud, abuse, scams, prohibited items, and other harmful or unlawful activity
- Protect the security and integrity of the marketplace and our users
- Perform analytics, measure performance, and improve features
- Personalize marketplace functionality, such as search, discovery, and recommendations
- Send service-related communications, such as order updates, verification codes, and security notices
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our policies
9. AI Features
AmuPit is an AI-powered marketplace, and some features process information using AI or automated systems. For example, AI may be used for seller listing assistance (analyzing photos and suggesting titles, descriptions, categories, and prices), search and discovery (relevance and recommendations), the in-app support assistant, and automated marketplace operations such as safety, fraud, and prohibited-item screening.
These features operate as part of the AmuPit service. We do not sell your information to AI providers, and we do not use your content to train public AI models.
10. Payments
AmuPit uses third-party payment processors to handle payments, including buyer purchases and seller payouts. When you make a payment, your payment details are handled by the payment provider under its own privacy policy; AmuPit does not store complete payment-card numbers. We receive from the payment provider the information needed to operate the marketplace — such as confirmation of a successful payment, the amount, and the order it belongs to.
11. Identity Verification and Fraud Prevention
AmuPit verifies sellers using SMS one-time codes sent to the phone number you provide, and certain listings may include voluntary device-identifier verification, where the seller submits an identifier (such as an IMEI or serial number) that AmuPit stores privately and displays only in masked form. Payments on the marketplace are also subject to verification requirements of the payment provider. AmuPit applies automated screening and human review to detect fraud, scams, prohibited items, and abuse — for example, reviewing flagged listings and recording security events related to your account's safety.
12. Shipping and Delivery
When an order is shipped, the information necessary to fulfill it — such as the recipient name, delivery address, item, and order details — is shared with the seller and, as needed, with the shipping or delivery provider so the item can reach the buyer. Tracking information uploaded by the seller is shown to the buyer on the order.
14. Public Marketplace Information
Information you intentionally include in a public marketplace listing or profile may be visible to other users and visitors of AmuPit. This may include:
- Your seller display name and public profile information
- Product title, description, photographs, condition, and price
- The approximate listing location you chose to display (city/state or a masked ZIP-area prefix)
- Your reviews, ratings, and public seller reputation
15. User Communications
Messages you send through AmuPit, along with support requests, reports, appeals, and dispute communications, may be processed to operate, secure, moderate, and support the marketplace — including investigating reports, resolving disputes, preventing fraud and abuse, and enforcing our policies. Please do not include sensitive personal information (such as financial details or government ID numbers) in marketplace messages.
16. Data Security
AmuPit takes reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction — including encrypted transport, restricted access to sensitive records, and server-side controls for security-critical operations.
However, no online service can guarantee complete security. Please keep your password confidential and contact us at support@amupit.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
17. Data Retention
AmuPit retains personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing the service, completing transactions, maintaining marketplace security and fraud prevention, resolving disputes, meeting legal and accounting obligations, and other legitimate operational purposes.
When you request account deletion, your personal marketplace data is deleted as described below. Certain records — such as completed order, payment, refund, and payout records needed for financial, tax, legal, fraud-prevention, and dispute purposes — may be retained where we are legally or operationally required to keep them, in line with this policy.
18. Account Deletion and Data Deletion
You can request deletion of your AmuPit account and associated personal information at any time. Deletion removes your profile, listings, favorites, saved searches, notifications, marketplace messages, offers, dispute records, and seller account.
Some information may be retained where required for legitimate legal, security, fraud-prevention, accounting, transaction, or regulatory reasons — for example, records of completed orders, payments, refunds, and payouts.
Request Account Deletion19. Children's Privacy
AmuPit is a marketplace for adults and is not directed at children. You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to use AmuPit. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children where doing so is prohibited by law. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at support@amupit.com and we will take appropriate action.
20. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including:
- Access — requesting information about the personal information we hold about you
- Correction — updating or correcting inaccurate information (much of which you can edit directly in your AmuPit profile and settings)
- Deletion — requesting deletion of your account and personal information as described in Section 18
- Privacy inquiries — asking questions about this policy or our practices at support@amupit.com
- Withdrawal of permissions — where applicable, you can revoke permissions (such as device location) in your device or browser settings, or stop using a feature at any time
21. Third-Party Links
The AmuPit website and app may contain links to third-party websites and services, such as partner-retailer product pages. These third parties operate under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review. AmuPit is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites.
22. Policy Changes
AmuPit may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the date of the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the AmuPit website or app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
